Social Community Manager

About the role

SCMP’s Data & Digital team is seeking a Social Community Manager to boost reader participation and deepen engagement across its social channels. You will work closely with editorial desks to ensure the brand’s voice is consistent while driving audience interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily publishing, copywriting, and scheduling on Meta, X, LinkedIn, YouTube and emerging platforms.
• Lead community initiatives such as AMAs, user‑generated content callouts, host‑led channels and niche groups.
• Create and optimise platform‑specific assets for breaking news and homepage promotion.
• Partner with editorial teams to build low‑friction distribution pipelines and standardised SOPs.
• Monitor performance metrics, platform algorithm changes and policy updates to inform newsroom strategy.

Required profile

• Degree in Journalism, Media or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of newsroom experience in an English‑language publication.
• Proven track record in social community management and audience engagement.
• Strong news judgment and ability to distil complex stories quickly.
• Excellent written and spoken English; Cantonese or Mandarin a plus.
