Supply Chain Procurement Manager

About the role

Hitachi, Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Supply Chain Procurement Manager to lead and optimise procurement strategies for its global operations. The role is pivotal in ensuring cost‑effective acquisition of goods and services while supporting the company’s innovation and business success.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage comprehensive procurement strategies aligned with global supply‑chain objectives.
• Lead supplier selection, negotiation and contract management to secure favourable terms, quality and delivery performance.
• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, technologies and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Manage supplier relationships, performance evaluations and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, logistics and legal teams to integrate procurement needs across functions.
• Design risk‑mitigation strategies for supply‑chain disruptions and geopolitical factors.
• Monitor procurement metrics, analyse trends and report KPIs to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
• Drive process improvement using digital tools and best practices.
• Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of excellence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field; Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, C.P.M.) preferred.
• 8‑10 years of progressive supply‑chain and procurement experience, including 3‑5 years in a leadership role within a large multinational.
• Proven track record in negotiation, contract management and supplier relationship management.
• Strong understanding of global logistics, international trade regulations and supply‑chain dynamics.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with procurement software and ERP systems, specifically SAP Ariba and Oracle ERP.
