Travel Counselor

About the role

Amex GBT is hiring a Travel Counselor in its Hong Kong office. The role provides outstanding service to corporate business clients, advising and arranging travel for individuals and groups. The Traveler Care team is a 24/7 operation, and this position works from Saturday to Wednesday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Key responsibilities

• Advise and arrange travel for corporate business customers, both individuals and groups
• Analyze and research travel options and proactively anticipate traveler needs to sell additional services
• Arrange and book domestic and international business travel (air, road, rail and accommodations) of varying complexity
• Use Global Distribution Systems (GDSs) such as Sabre, Apollo, Galileo and Amadeus; training may be provided
• Ensure compliance with customers' travel policies, service provider policies and regulatory requirements
• Handle special customer requests using positive telephone service techniques
• Coach, mentor and give constructive feedback to teammates to improve service levels

Required profile

• At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a TMC or travel agency
• Strong understanding of the travel industry (business travel, leisure travel or airline reservations)
• Fluent English, spoken and written
• Attention to detail, integrity and care for personal traveler information
• Ability to resolve customer issues quickly and independently, with suppliers
• Teamwork and openness to feedback

Required skills

• Cryptic GDS expertise, preferably Sabre
• Training in GDSs may be provided
