Assistant Manager, Public Affairs – Content Development & Media Relations

About the role

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is seeking an Assistant Manager for Public Affairs to lead content development and media relations. Reporting to the Deputy Executive Manager, you will support strategic communications that enhance the Club’s reputation as a global leader in racing, entertainment, and community initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic communication plans and media campaigns that promote the Club’s brand, horse racing tourism, racecourse entertainment, and community programmes.
• Craft key messages, story angles, and press releases on topics such as animal welfare, anti‑illegal betting, and pandemic response.
• Pitch stories to local general‑news outlets, nurture relationships with reporters, and secure positive coverage.
• Identify and negotiate media partnership opportunities, outlining clear value propositions and deliverables.
• Collaborate with the Public Affairs team to monitor media trends and mitigate potential issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• Minimum six years of experience in journalism, public relations, or media communications.
• Strong awareness of Hong Kong’s socio‑economic and political environment.
• Excellent written and spoken proficiency in English and Chinese.

Required skills

• Proven ability to develop compelling narratives and press materials.
• Experience in media pitching, outreach, and relationship management.
• Knowledge of current affairs and ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
