Assistant Vice President, Financial Accountant

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is recruiting an Assistant Vice President, Financial Accountant for its Financial Control Department, Accounting Section in Hong Kong. The role covers monthly financial reporting, month-end closing, account reconciliations and compliance with accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements including Head Office reporting (J-GAAP, US-GAAP, BASEL III), regulatory reports and variance analysis
• Produce monthly management accounts and carry out month-end closing activities
• Perform daily account reconciliations and follow up on outstanding or unusual items
• Maintain strong internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
• Implement new accounting standards and ensure compliance with Group accounting policies and relevant regulations
• Support ad hoc projects and assignments as required

Required profile

• University degree in accounting
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the banking industry
• Strong technical knowledge of financial accounting with the ability to work independently
• Solid expertise in treasury accounting and global markets products, including FX and derivatives
• Strong analytical skills and sound business acumen
• Detail-oriented, deadline-driven and self-motivated

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
• J-GAAP, US-GAAP and BASEL III reporting
