Chemist Trainee / Assistant Chemist (Chemical Laboratory)

About the role

SGS, a global testing, inspection and certification company, is hiring a Chemist Trainee / Assistant Chemist for its chemical laboratory in Fanling. The role covers basic laboratory testing, sample handling and data recording, and is open to fresh graduates in Chemistry or related fields.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct basic laboratory testing according to standard operating procedures.
• Record, present, store and maintain test data accurately in the required format.
• Calculate simple scientific quantities and identify and report abnormal patterns promptly.
• Collect samples using specified equipment and procedures, and prepare them for testing, including extraction and separation.
• Apply appropriate statistical techniques in sampling and monitor and verify the sampling process against the sampling plan.
• Handle chemicals, solutions and reagents safely.
• Follow customer requirements and prepare laboratory materials, equipment and facilities needed for chemical tests.

Required profile

• Fresh graduate with a degree or above in Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Initiative, organised and able to work independently.
• Candidate with more experience will be considered as Assistant Chemist.
• Good command of English and Chinese, including Mandarin.
