Corporate Counsel – Legal Partner

About the role

The Corporate Counsel will act as a strategic legal partner for Starbucks Asia Pacific, providing comprehensive advice to commercial and operational teams across the region. This role supports business objectives while proactively managing legal and regulatory risks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive legal advice to cross‑functional stakeholders, aligning with business strategies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including procurement, licensing, product development and distribution contracts.
• Identify and assess legal, data‑privacy and regulatory risks, advising on compliance and corporate policies.
• Develop and standardise legal templates, policies and processes, including contract‑lifecycle‑management platforms.
• Deliver training on contract terms, intellectual‑property, data‑privacy, antitrust, anti‑bribery and related risk‑mitigation topics.
• Manage external counsel engagements, ensuring quality, scope and cost control.
• Support company secretarial duties and corporate‑governance initiatives.

Required profile

• 3–9 years of corporate/commercial law experience in a leading law firm or in‑house legal department of a multinational.
• Proven track record in drafting, negotiating and managing complex commercial agreements.
• Experience with cross‑border transactions and multinational operations.
• Exposure to supply‑chain, procurement, licensing, technology, data‑privacy or employment law is highly preferred.
• Strong commercial acumen, collaboration skills and alignment with Starbucks guiding principles.
