Java Software Engineer – Equity Derivatives Platform

About the role

This role sits within an Investment Banking technology team delivering and enhancing an Equity Derivatives (EQD) Prime inventory management platform. You will build low‑latency, resilient services and tools that support inventory, locate, stock borrow/loan workflows, eligibility, and real‑time risk and funding impacts. You will partner closely with front‑office, operations, and risk stakeholders to deliver secure, auditable solutions in a regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java‑based services and APIs for inventory capture, allocation, optimization, and reconciliation.
• Deliver event‑driven and batch processing pipelines for market and reference data, positions, and trades.
• Optimize performance and latency; profile JVM behaviour, garbage collection, and threading to meet throughput SLAs.
• Implement robust testing (unit, integration, contract) and automate deployments via CI/CD.
• Collaborate with quant, traders, and business analysts to translate requirements into technical deliverables.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills, ability to work with global teams, and a delivery‑focused mindset.
• Knowledge of investment‑banking workflows; exposure to prime services, stock borrow/loan, equity derivatives, or inventory/locates is highly desirable.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
