Legal Counsel – Litigation, Regulatory & Employment

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to lead and support a wide range of legal matters across the firm. The role involves managing dispute resolution, regulatory investigations, employment issues, and commercial contracts while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee litigation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution matters, including strategy formulation and coordination with external counsel.
• Handle contentious regulatory issues and internal/external investigations, preparing responses and liaising with authorities.
• Provide legal advice on employment matters such as employee relations, disciplinary actions, terminations, and compliance with labour laws.
• Advise on operational legal matters including corporate communications, marketing content, real estate transactions, vendor contracts, and commercial agreements.
• Draft, review, and maintain group policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legal and regulatory standards.
• Participate in regulatory initiatives, policy development, and industry consultations.
• Collaborate with compliance, risk, HR, and other stakeholders to identify and mitigate operational, legal, and reputational risks.
• Provide legal input on ad‑hoc projects, crisis management, and enterprise‑wide operational changes.

Required profile

• Lawyer from a reputable international law firm or in‑house counsel at a leading financial institution.
• 4‑6 years of post‑qualification experience.
• Qualified in a common‑law jurisdiction and Hong Kong.
• Experience handling litigation, regulatory, commercial and employment matters.
• Knowledge of brokerage, investment banking, funds, equity or FICC business is advantageous.
• Excellent drafting, communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to multi‑task and work under pressure.
• Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese).
• Team player, proactive, detail‑oriented and eager to learn.
