Network Security Engineer (Firewall)

About the role

Sopra Steria's Hong Kong entity, which delivers Infrastructure, Cloud and Cybersecurity services to clients across the Asia Pacific, is looking for an experienced Firewall Engineer to support a well-established European investment bank. The role covers firewall design, implementation and project delivery, and is critical for keeping network infrastructure secure, scalable and resilient in a highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the trading applications of Equities and Derivatives Trading (stocks, ETFs, warrants, options and futures) on various APAC markets, running on Windows and Linux platforms
• Troubleshoot and diagnose functional and technical issues in the production environment and manage daily production problems and user requests
• Report bugs back to local and overseas development teams
• Handle business-driven or exchange-driven projects
• Run system quality assurance testing and deploy or upgrade mission-critical trading applications
• Monitor system performance and operation, and follow ITIL incident escalation and change management procedures
• Provide system and process documentation and enhance the automation and resilience of production systems
• Work morning/lunch shifts, weekends and holidays

Required profile

• Minimum 6-8 years of experience in network security, with a strong focus on firewall technologies
• Proven experience in firewall deployment projects in enterprise environments
• Experience in banking or financial services is highly preferred
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate) in design and/or implementation
• Fortinet certification (NSE4 or above)
• Understanding of network security principles such as VPNs, NAT, IPS and threat prevention
• Nice to have: familiarity with banking regulatory and compliance requirements and exposure to network architecture design and security frameworks
