Route Development Manager, Trans-Pacific

About the role

The Route Development Manager (RDM) – Transpacific is a strategic, high‑impact commercial role focused on expanding market share across the APAC‑USA trade lane. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Commercial, Asia Pacific, the RDM acts as the commercial growth lead and primary bridge between APAC regional teams and the US network, including owned branches and strategic partners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and execute frequent sales campaigns across the US network, acting as the dedicated “APAC Commercial Champion” and partnering with US sales teams to grow the Transpacific lane.
• Partner with internal Trade Lane Development leads to align growth strategies, market positioning and target account lists, and serve as the main commercial escalation point between APAC operations and US stakeholders.
• Build, maintain and manage the Transpacific business pipeline, monitor market dynamics, rate fluctuations and capacity trends, and deliver regular performance reports to regional commercial leadership.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of hands‑on sales and trade‑lane development experience in freight forwarding or logistics.
• Proven track record in Air & Ocean Transpacific trade lanes.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
• Strong cross‑cultural fluency across US and Asian corporate environments.
• Proactive, sales‑driven mindset with a client‑centric approach.
• Willingness to travel to the US 30‑50% of the time for campaigns and client meetings.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional trade‑lane teams and regional business units to achieve shared growth targets.
