Sample Handler (Class 2 driving license required)

About the role

The Sample Handler ensures that laboratory samples are received, tracked, stored, and dispatched in compliance with UL’s quality and accreditation standards. This onsite position supports testing, inspection and certification activities across UL’s global network of laboratories.

Key responsibilities

• Receive incoming samples and verify them against required specifications.
• Enter sample data into the database and store samples in the correct locations.
• Maintain accurate inventory through periodic counts of storage areas.
• Transport samples and related equipment between company locations using a Class 2 driving licence.
• Prepare samples for testing, dispatch, and disposition according to UL quality processes.
• Keep the work area organized, safe, clean and productive.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or DSE qualification.
• Valid Class 2 driving licence.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely.
• Physical capability to lift/carry up to 60 lb and perform standing, stooping, bending and walking tasks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Forklift operation.
• Basic computer software proficiency.
• Use of hand tools and small power tools (e.g., saws, drills) in a safe manner.
