Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

Senior DevOps Engineer at Balyasny Asset Management, part of the Platform Engineering team that owns the end‑to‑end experience for engineers, investment teams and researchers. The role focuses on designing, building and maintaining platforms for engineers, from scalable source‑control systems to CI/CD infrastructure that executes millions of builds per year.

Key responsibilities

• Design and automate deployment pipelines and operational processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and developer autonomy.
• Champion SRE and DevOps best practices—including observability, automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code—across cloud and on‑premises environments.
• Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines; write code for infrastructure optimization; manage operations, including on‑call duties, Kubernetes, and training.
• Collaborate with development teams to enhance service stability, scalability, and fault tolerance through mentoring, documentation, and hands‑on support.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response, sharing responsibility for production reliability.

Required profile

• 7+ years of hands‑on experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering within complex, distributed systems.
• Strong software engineering skills with Python or Go.
• Deep expertise with CI/CD platforms and automation of SDLC processes (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy).
• Experience with critical artifacts infrastructure serving millions of requests per day.
• Experience architecting and implementing testable, scalable, and reliable software and infrastructure solutions.
• Deep expertise with containers and Kubernetes, including application management and orchestration.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with configuration/infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes Operators).
• Experience working with and maintaining observability solutions.
• Experience with both cloud (AWS preferred) and on‑premises hosting platforms.
