Senior Materials Technician – Construction Testing

About the role

Stanger Asia Limited is seeking a Senior Materials Technician to join its construction materials testing team in the New Territories, Hong Kong. The role involves performing both routine and specialised laboratory and field tests on a variety of construction materials to support project quality and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory and on‑site tests on soil, concrete, aggregates, steel and repair materials.
• Collect, prepare and condition samples for testing according to standard procedures.
• Operate and maintain testing equipment, perform calibrations and record validated data.
• Support field activities such as core drilling, pile testing and geotechnical instrumentation.
• Prepare accurate test reports and maintain quality and calibration records.
• Collaborate with engineers, inspectors and multidisciplinary teams to meet project timelines.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards during testing.
• Maintain laboratory inventory and consumables.

Required profile

• Technical education in civil engineering, construction materials, laboratory science or related field (beneficial).
• Experience in construction materials testing, building inspection or related laboratory/field work, preferably in Hong Kong.
• Ability to work on‑site in varying environmental conditions and manage multiple tasks.
• Good communication skills and basic written English for documentation.
• Familiarity with quality systems or ISO‑based laboratory practices.
• Strong attention to accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
• Ability to follow safety procedures in labs and construction sites.
