Vice President / Director – Financial Sponsor Coverage (APAC)

About the role

Mizuho is seeking a senior leader to head Financial Sponsor Coverage across the APAC region (excluding Japan). The role will drive origination, client engagement and transaction execution for financial sponsor clients and their portfolio companies.

Key responsibilities

• Originate and support M&A advisory, corporate finance, acquisition finance and structured product solutions for financial sponsor clients across APAC.
• Maintain strategic conversations with sponsor clients, prepare comprehensive presentations and pitchbooks, and coordinate with deal and capital‑markets teams.
• Collaborate with sector, product and country bankers globally to design and pitch appropriate solutions.
• Lead deal execution when required, managing client representatives, external counsel and internal stakeholders.
• Develop the bank’s distribution capabilities in private debt/credit and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• Minimum seven years of experience in financial sponsor coverage, M&A advisory or corporate finance, preferably at a financial institution or advisory firm.
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with a client‑oriented mindset.
• Solid understanding of M&A, capital markets, private debt/credit and corporate banking products.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or a related field; willingness to travel within APAC.
