Assistant Inspector of Works (Public Housing Project)

About the role

Jacobs is seeking an Assistant Inspector of Works to support a public housing development in the North District. The role focuses on ensuring structural integrity, safety, and compliance with environmental and quality standards throughout the construction and hand‑over phases.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange and attend all pre‑handover and hand‑over inspections.
• Inspect defects and outstanding works at project completion.
• Assist in vetting the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and conduct inspections in line with the EMP.
• Compile detailed inspection reports.
• Check site safety, security and environmental protection measures.
• Monitor and immediately report any missing technical approvals before inspections.
• Maintain and update site and inspection records.
• Assist in preparing the Supervision Plan.
• Conduct site supervision, inspection and checking activities.
• Work with and monitor the Direct Testing Contractor (DTC) and Material Testing Management Unit (MTMU) for material quality testing.
• Participate in safety auditing.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma or Higher Certificate in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering from a recognised Hong Kong institution, or equivalent.
• Level 2 or above in Chinese and English language examinations (DSE/HKCEE) or equivalent.
• For non‑degree holders: minimum 5 years relevant experience (including 3 years post‑qualification). For Bachelor’s degree holders: minimum 2 years post‑qualification experience as an Assistant Inspector of Works.
• Proficiency in both English and Chinese.
• Compliance with TCP grade T3 requirements as per the Technical Memorandum for Supervision Plans 2009.
