Assistant Project Manager - Data Centre MEP Refurbishment

About the role

Turner & Townsend is recruiting an Assistant Project Manager for a data centre project in Hong Kong. The role supports MEP project planning, scheduling and execution for the replacement of the whole MEP system within a refurbishment project while the building remains in operation.

Key responsibilities

• Support MEP project planning, scheduling and execution during a live building refurbishment
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and the main contractor to align the project with the client's technical and performance requirements
• Interface with the client, stakeholders, consultants, contractors and suppliers on MEP matters
• Manage budget, resources and timelines through designated software, and maintain project governance and compliance
• Handle permitting, statutory matters and submissions and approvals with consultants and contractors
• Conduct site inspections and coordination meetings, and prepare reports such as detail plans, progress reports, execution plans and risk assessments
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, environment and quality standards
• Prepare RFPs for consultant appointments and support tender documents, tender process and evaluation
• Advise on budget and value engineering, coordinate cost reports with the QS, and ensure prompt client invoicing
• Develop new business with existing clients, feed project learnings into the company database, and lead on MEP-related stakeholder interface

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 2 years' experience in project management with knowledge of project management concepts, tools, software and techniques
• Experience leading MEP, sustainability, T&C or SMART consultants on a full MEP refurbishment project
• Experience leading project management commissions for a major refurbishment in a live building is an advantage
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines

Required skills

• Working knowledge of AC, electrical, lift, ELV, fire safety and power distribution systems
• Project planning and contract administration
• MS Project and MS Office suite
• Design and build project knowledge is a plus
