Project Manager / Senior Project Manager - Data Center MEP Refurbishment

About the role

Turner & Townsend is recruiting a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager for a data center refurbishment project in Hong Kong. The role covers MEP project planning, scheduling and execution while the building remains in operation, coordinating architects, engineers and the main contractor and managing the project budget, resources and timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Support MEP project planning, scheduling and execution for a whole MEP system replacement during a refurbishment, while the building stays in use
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and the main contractor to meet the client's technical and performance requirements
• Interface with the client, stakeholders, consultants, contractors and suppliers on MEP matters at every stage
• Manage budget, resources and timelines through designated software, and maintain project governance, compliance and quality standards
• Handle permitting, statutory matters and submissions and approvals with consultants and contractors
• Conduct regular site inspections and coordination meetings, and prepare project reports including detail plans, progress reports, execution plans and risk assessments
• Prepare RFPs for consultant appointments and coordinate tender documents, tender process, interviews and evaluation reports
• Advise on budget and value engineering, coordinate cost reports with the QS, and ensure prompt client invoicing
• Design and build knowledge is a plus; identify new business opportunities with existing clients and feed project learnings into the company database

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 5 years' experience in project management, including leading MEP, sustainability, T&C or SMART consultants on a full MEP refurbishment
• Experience leading project management commissions for a major refurbishment in a live operational building is an advantage
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines

Required skills

• Knowledge of AC, electric, lift, ELV, fire safety and power distribution systems
• Working knowledge of MS Project and the MS Office suite
• Project planning and contract administration
