Assistant Chemist / Chemist (Chemical Laboratory)

About the role

SGS, a global inspection, verification, testing and certification company, is hiring an Assistant Chemist / Chemist for its chemical laboratory in Fanling. The role covers the implementation of the laboratory quality system, including test results, methods, equipment and environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse test results from laboratory testing activities, and interpret them and observations independently to identify trends
• Estimate and report measurement uncertainty for testing or calibration activities
• Develop and document test methods and procedures based on relevant international standards, meeting regulatory requirements and customer needs
• Verify customer testing service requests and contract testing services, and respond accurately in line with laboratory and accreditation requirements
• Calibrate, verify and maintain reference standards, determine their storage conditions and validate non-standard test methods according to the authorised validation protocol
• Apply appropriate statistical techniques to analyse valid measurement data

Required profile

• Degree or above in Chemistry or a related discipline
• 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year in laboratory supervision, operation and service programme development
• Ability to work independently, initiative and organisation
• Good command of English and Chinese, including Mandarin
