Associate Sourcing Specialist - Hong Kong

About the role

Michaels, a retailer of craft supplies and celebration products operating over 1,300 stores in North America and online, is hiring an Associate Sourcing Specialist in Hong Kong. The role supports the execution and improvement of end-to-end best practices in global sourcing for assigned product categories, and is accountable for developing and managing vendors so they meet or exceed their contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and improve sourcing processes including vendor management, price negotiation, product development and sample assessment to meet on-time delivery, quality and commercial KPIs.
• Sourcing and developing potential vendors and maintaining respectful, collaborative relationships with existing vendors.
• Liaise with parties on sample handling, order management, laboratory testing, packaging artwork creation and approval.
• Support requests for proposals, category costing bids and product development.
• Assist in product development trips, sourcing trips and finalization events.
• Manage orders, monitor and regularly update project status for assigned categories, and perform data entry and administrative support.

Required profile

• Degree, associate degree or diploma in merchandising, business management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of work experience; basic sourcing experience from a US buying office or retailer is preferable.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Mandarin.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to work in a team and in a demanding but collegial environment.
• Up to 15% travel required.

Required skills

• Hands-on computer knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Chinese word processing.
