Deputy Commercial Manager - Landfill Projects

About the role

Veolia Hong Kong Holding Limited, part of the Veolia Group, is looking for a Deputy Commercial Manager based in Tuen Mun. The role covers the overall management of contractual and commercial issues for WENTX landfill construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage contractual agreements and oversee the entire contract lifecycle, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
• Establish commercial management systems covering revenue, cost, cash flow, changes, claims and subcontracting.
• Manage the team and collaborate internally and externally to negotiate contract terms, pricing and other provisions.
• Supervise pre-qualification submissions, commercial review of tenders, sub-contract tenders and related documentation.
• Develop strategies and measures to mitigate risks and protect the Company's interests.
• Review contracts thoroughly for accuracy, clarity and consistency, and give contractual, financial and commercial advice.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract documents, correspondence and records.
• Carry out regular contract reviews and audits to ensure adherence to contractual obligations and identify project opportunities.
• Handle other ad hoc projects as assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, preferably with related professional qualifications.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a main contractor's leading commercial role on large-scale civil projects.
• Experience in contract administration and claims preparation, with commercial and legal/arbitration knowledge.
• Familiarity with various forms of contract conditions, cost control, planning and strategic management.
• Excellent command of English.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of contract law, legal principles and contract drafting best practice.
• Excellent knowledge of QS practice and contract administration.
• Experience with NEC4 contracts is advantageous.
• Strong commercial sense, independent and meticulous working style.
