Design Engineer (BS) – MEP

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer (BS) to lead the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design process from concept through construction and handover. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to embed MEP solutions into overall project designs while ensuring compliance with regulations and sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the full MEP design lifecycle, from concept to handover.
• Coordinate with architects, civil engineers and other disciplines to integrate MEP systems.
• Review, challenge and approve consultant and contractor MEP designs and drawings.
• Ensure designs meet UK building regulations, standards and sustainability requirements.
• Manage design risks, change control and technical issues throughout the project.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all MEP‑related queries.
• Support value‑engineering initiatives to optimise performance and cost.
• Mentor junior engineers and help develop best practices within the team.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience delivering MEP design on a variety of projects.
• Familiarity with design stage guides such as RIBA Plan of Work and BSRIA Guide BG6.
• Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and construction methods.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
