Head of Internal Audit – Insurance

About the role

We are seeking a senior professional to lead the internal audit function for an insurance organization, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the annual internal audit plan, aligning with regulatory requirements and business priorities.
• Lead and perform risk‑based audits across operations, finance, distribution, underwriting, claims, and corporate governance.
• Conduct quarterly audit reviews and provide independent assessments of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
• Identify control weaknesses, operational inefficiencies, and compliance gaps, delivering practical improvement recommendations.
• Prepare and present audit findings and reports to senior management, executive committees, and relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor follow‑up on audit recommendations to ensure timely remediation and closure.
• Evaluate compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Support investigations into suspected control breaches, misconduct, fraud, or other operational incidents.
• Maintain constructive relationships with business leaders while preserving audit independence.
• Coordinate with external auditors, regulators, and other assurance functions as needed.
• Contribute to continuous enhancement of audit methodologies, tools, and reporting processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as CPA, CIA, CISA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred.
• 12+ years of audit experience within the insurance industry.
• Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, governance standards, and internal control principles.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Fluent in English and Chinese with strong writing and presentation skills.
