IP Paralegal

About the role

The IP Paralegal will support the Intellectual Property team handling Hong Kong and China trademark matters while assisting with the management of an international trademark portfolio. This position offers exposure to a fast‑paced legal environment and the opportunity to work closely with clients, overseas associates, and trademark offices.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file documents for Hong Kong trademark applications, registrations and related proceedings.
• Maintain trademark portfolios, including docketing, record updates and deadline monitoring.
• Liaise with clients, overseas associates and trademark offices to ensure smooth communication.
• Draft reports on office actions and assist with responses and submissions.
• Conduct trademark clearance searches, company and online research, and prepare search reports.
• Support trademark prosecution, portfolio management and related projects across multiple jurisdictions.
• Assist investigations into potential trademark infringements and prepare cease‑and‑desist letters.
• Prepare fee estimates, portfolio summaries and status reports.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by fee earners.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education; diploma or degree preferred.
• 3–4 years of trademark experience, including handling national filings and Madrid Protocol matters.
• Exposure to regional or international trademark portfolio management.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Cantonese and/or Mandarin.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with legal technology platforms.
• Familiarity with AI tools (advantageous).
