Principal – Banking & Financial Services

About the role

Oliver Wyman is seeking a Principal to lead high‑impact consulting engagements for financial services clients in Hong Kong. The role involves shaping strategy, driving measurable results, and mentoring junior consultants within a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex consulting projects for banks, insurers, capital markets firms and regulators, delivering strategic insights and actionable recommendations.
• Manage end‑to‑end project delivery, including hypothesis development, data gathering, rigorous analysis and presentation of findings.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior executives, influencing decisions and expanding long‑term partnerships.
• Partner with Oliver Wyman leadership to ensure exceptional work quality and client impact.
• Mentor and develop junior consultants, fostering a high‑performance, learning‑oriented culture.
• Drive thought leadership by shaping market insights and contributing to the firm’s intellectual capital.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of relevant financial services experience, preferably from a top‑tier strategy consulting firm or an in‑house strategy function.
• Proven track record of leading teams or work streams and delivering results under tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical and strategic problem‑solving skills with demonstrable quantitative ability.
• Deep knowledge of the financial services industry, either broad or specialized in a practice area.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, confident engaging senior executives.
• Undergraduate or advanced degree from a top academic program.
• Willingness to travel as required.
