Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager, Hong Kong

About the role

Airwallex, an AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager focused on its business in Hong Kong and the licences held there. The role reports to the Senior Director, Regulatory Compliance, Asia (based in Singapore) and sits within the Global Regulatory Compliance team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the regulatory engagement strategy for Hong Kong and manage the compliance program covering payment services, securities, asset management and money remittance
• Support licence authorisation processes and act as the main contact with regulators (CED, SFC, HKMA) on licence applications, business plan updates and information requests
• Maintain regulatory compliance and integrity risk reporting obligations and manage regulatory requests
• Advise the business on regulatory changes and compliance risk, and develop policies and processes for regulatory risk in the first line business
• Manage compliance risk within the Airwallex Risk Management Framework and escalate through the Group Risk Committee
• Advise on conduct risk and ethics matters relating to financial services licences
• Deliver the Compliance Monitoring Program, run thematic reviews, and deliver group-wide compliance training plus ad-hoc training
• Run Proactive Special Ops projects to remove business or operational blockers

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of compliance experience in a regulated financial institution, FinTech, legal or consulting firm, or a mix
• Experience developing or maintaining a compliance program in a financial institution, preferably for payments
• Exposure to licensing processes, regulatory expansion and RegTech solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, Chinese and Cantonese

Required skills

• Familiarity with Hong Kong financial regulation, especially the MSO licensing regime, the Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO) and PSSVFO, and related SFC guidelines
• Data proficiency and the ability to solve complex regulatory compliance challenges
• Preferred: demonstrable experience dealing with the HKMA, CED and SFC
