Software Engineer – Data Platform (Hong Kong)

About the role

This hands‑on platform engineering position focuses on improving the onboarding, validation, monitoring and operation of business‑critical datasets for a global investment firm. You will build internal tools and services that help engineering and investment teams detect data issues early and maintain confidence in the data that drives research and trading.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop platforms that ensure the quality and reliability of production data.
• Create monitoring, validation and alerting capabilities for critical datasets.
• Build reusable libraries, frameworks and developer tooling for data health.
• Improve onboarding and ongoing operation of new data sources.
• Investigate complex production issues and implement long‑term engineering improvements.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data specialists and investment stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical design, architecture and engineering standards.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering experience, especially with Python.
• Solid grounding in computer science, software design and data structures.
• Proven experience building production platforms, frameworks or internal tooling.
• Understanding of data quality, observability, monitoring or reliability.
• Experience with containerised or cloud‑based environments.
• Ability to take projects from design through to production.
