Software Engineer – R&D (Hong Kong)

About the role

The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) is seeking a Software Engineer to support its mission of advancing smart city technologies and industrial innovation. The role involves developing end‑to‑end software solutions for both internal projects and external industrial partners.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, debug, and test algorithms in C/C++ and Python.
• Develop complete software solutions for project and customer deliverables.
• Provide technical support and integration assistance to industrial partners.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure software quality and performance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic/Information Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; candidates with less experience may also be considered.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Self‑motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C, C++ and Python.
• Experience with cross‑platform programming.
• Familiarity with GUI frameworks such as Qt, ThreeJS, VTK, OpenGL or WebGL.
• Understanding of software architecture and version‑control systems.
• Experience in software product development is an advantage.
