Volunteer SEO Consultant (Remote)

About the role

Effective Altruism Hong Kong is looking for a volunteer SEO Consultant to improve the visibility of its GiveWise platform and related sites. The role is remote and focuses on developing a prioritized SEO roadmap for the next 3‑6 months.

Key responsibilities

• Audit the current website and broader online presence, covering technical, on‑page, off‑page and GEO‑relevant factors.
• Conduct keyword research on topics such as effective altruism, charity, philanthropy, global health, development and poverty alleviation in Hong Kong and the region.
• Help shape and refine the content strategy to expand reach among donors, volunteers and other stakeholders.
• Recommend and, where feasible, implement technical SEO fixes including indexing issues, sitemap and robots.txt configuration, site speed, mobile‑friendliness and broken‑link resolution.
• Structure key pages so that generative AI systems can extract accurate answers and cite EAHK as an authoritative source.
• Collaborate with the content and social‑media team to ensure new articles, event pages and resources are search‑optimised from the start.
• Identify and pursue low‑risk, high‑quality backlink opportunities to strengthen SEO authority and GEO signals.

Required profile

• Proven experience conducting SEO audits and keyword research.
• Familiarity with technical SEO implementations and backlink acquisition.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and align with the mission of effective altruism.
