Assistant Manager – Inventory Operations

About the role

As Assistant Manager – Inventory Operations you will lead the operational management of equipment and supplies that support Cathay’s onboard dining experience across its global network. Based in Hong Kong, you will oversee catering equipment, linen, beverages, wine, dry stores and related inventory, ensuring each station has the right stock while maintaining cost control and system accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Own relationships with equipment vendors, warehouse providers and logistics partners, ensuring reliable service, cost control and contractual compliance.
• Develop forecasts and replenishment plans for catering equipment, linen, beverages, wine and dry stores, setting par levels, minimum and maximum thresholds and safety stock aligned with flight schedules.
• Monitor warehouse stock, turnover and asset lifecycles to prevent nil‑stock events, limit overstock, shortages and obsolescence.
• Oversee inbound and outbound shipments, including air and sea freight, customs clearance, logistics documentation and stock movements between warehouses and caterers.
• Maintain accurate ERP records for goods receipts, issues, cycle counts, reconciliations and month‑end closing, ensuring audit‑ready inventory data.
• Validate supplier invoices, analyse consumption patterns and identify optimisation and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Coordinate contingency replenishment during shipment delays, customs holds or supplier failures and escalate logistics risks as needed.
• Collaborate with caterers and Dining Performance to confirm requirements, resolve shortages and protect flight delivery, especially during new‑station launches and caterer transitions.
• Drive improvements in warehouse and logistics processes through automation, digitisation and simplification while supporting sustainability initiatives.
