Assistant Vice President, Financial Control - HO Reporting

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is recruiting an Assistant Vice President for its Financial Control Department, Accounting Section, based in Hong Kong. The role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, working alongside a knowledgeable and supportive team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for submission to head office, with accurate, complete data delivered on time.
• Carry out variance analysis on financial results to identify trends or discrepancies and support business decisions.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing, coordinating with teams and ensuring adherence to internal controls.
• Monitor daily ledger verification and investigate irregularities with business units.
• Calculate profit tax in line with Hong Kong tax regulations and submit filings on time.
• Stay up to date on accounting standards such as IFRS and local tax rules, and develop compliance action plans.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and answering queries.
• Ensure accounting operations follow internal financial policies, procedures and controls, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on data integrity and process improvements.
• Contribute to department efficiency through best practices and training.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field.
• At least five years of relevant experience in a reputable financial institution.
• Experience managing month-end and year-end closing.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and respond to team needs.

Required skills

• Comprehensive understanding of IFRS and up-to-date knowledge of Hong Kong tax regulations.
• Analytical ability to prepare detailed reports and run variance analyses.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.
