Associate/Assistant Professor – Chemistry (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

The Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science and Technology seeks an Associate Professor or Assistant Professor on a tenure‑track basis. The successful candidate will join a vibrant community of around 160 undergraduate, 50 taught postgraduate and 90 research students, contributing to both high‑quality education and cutting‑edge research.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent, high‑impact research and publish in top international journals.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaborations, especially in chemical, biomedical, and environmental science and engineering.
• Supervise MPhil and PhD students and mentor junior researchers.
• Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in chemistry‑related subjects.
• Organise academic conferences, symposia, and seminars to raise the department’s profile.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemical Science, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Post‑doctoral research experience with a strong record of publications as first or senior author.
• Demonstrated ability to secure external research funding through competitive grants.
• Potential to become a leading international scholar with a focus on translational research.

Required skills

• Expertise in chemical, biomedical, or environmental science and engineering, including AI for chemistry.
