Chief Risk Officer – Hong Kong

About the role

The Chief Risk Officer for Hong Kong will report to the International CRO and be responsible for protecting the financial strength, resilience and reputation of ANZ’s Hong Kong franchise. This senior leader will provide independent, forward‑looking risk oversight across all risk domains and ensure alignment with group risk appetite, policies and local regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end risk management for Hong Kong, ensuring material risks are identified, assessed, controlled, monitored and reported within the approved risk appetite.
• Provide independent, credible risk leadership and oversight across credit, market, liquidity, operational, compliance, financial crime, conduct, strategic and climate risk.
• Maintain robust risk governance and effective decision‑making forums across the business.
• Develop and maintain Hong Kong‑specific Risk Appetite Statements that meet group standards and local regulatory requirements.
• Build trusted relationships with regulators and supervisory authorities, representing ANZ’s risk posture.
• Champion a strong risk culture, driving governance, accountability and transparency throughout the franchise.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in risk management within banking or financial services.
• Deep knowledge of local and international regulatory frameworks and supervisory expectations.
• Proven ability to influence senior leadership and act as a trusted advisor to country executives.
• Strong track record of developing and implementing risk appetite frameworks and governance structures.
