Clerk of Works - Addition & Alteration Projects

About the role

Turner & Townsend, a global professional services company with over 22,000 people in more than 62 countries, is hiring a Clerk of Works in Hong Kong for addition and alteration (A&A) construction projects. The role covers day-to-day inspection of builders' work, reporting defects and coordinating with contractors and consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure work complies with architectural and structural drawings, contractual specifications, approved drawings, method statements, statutory regulations and SLA requirements.
• Ensure proper sequencing of works according to the agreed master programme.
• Document and report defects, non-compliant work and deviations from specifications.
• Attend site meetings with contractors and consultants, and inspect materials and workmanship.
• Report construction progress, technical issues and risks to the Project Manager, and support site inspections, testing and handover.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports for the Project Manager.
• Coordinate with consultants and contractors on installation, performance, project execution and defect rectification.
• Ensure safety measures are implemented, document safety incidents and quality issues, and report unsafe practices or conditions.
• Provide accurate information and documentation for valuation of works, progress claims, variations and cost assessments.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building/Construction Management or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience as Clerk of Works on A&A projects.
• Proven ability to identify site issues, ensure installation quality and supervise contractors.
• Able to work independently on site in a fast-paced, high-availability construction environment.
