Deputy Process Plant Manager / Manager Trainee (Landfill Gas)

About the role

Veolia Hong Kong is looking for a Deputy Process Plant Manager / Manager Trainee for its landfill gas management system at the NENT and NENTX sites in Fanling. The role covers operations and maintenance, leading testing and commissioning, and supervising the landfill gas team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage operations and maintenance of the landfill gas system, including gas collection, flaring, biogas engines, extraction blowers and gas treatment unit, and lead testing and commissioning of the NENTX system
• Respond to abnormal operations and emergencies
• Compile monitoring data for daily reporting to the Process Plant Manager, present exception findings and use corporate management software to track plant status and identify improvements
• Work with the Process Plant Engineering Team on servicing and engineering works to minimise downtime and meet performance targets
• Lead and supervise the landfill gas team, including staff development and training
• Ensure health and safety compliance and prevent incidents and lost time injuries
• Cooperate with other departments on development and alteration works for landfill gas collection

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Gas Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; professional chartered status is an advantage
• Minimum 7 years of supervisory experience in modern processing plant operations or environmental engineering; less experienced candidates may be considered as Assistant Manager
• Experience operating and maintaining computer/PLC-controlled plants, SCADA systems and heavy-duty equipment
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering applied in industry, and of safety and chemical handling practices
• Valid Class 1 and 2 driver's licence; Confined Space Workers Certificate preferred
• Fluent spoken and written English and Chinese
