Design Engineer – MEP (BS)

About the role

The Design Engineer will join our multidisciplinary team to lead the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design process from concept through construction and handover. You will ensure that MEP solutions are fully integrated, compliant and aligned with sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the MEP design process from concept to handover.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers and other disciplines to integrate MEP solutions.
• Review, challenge and approve consultant and contractor MEP designs and drawings.
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, standards and sustainability requirements.
• Manage design risks, change control and technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all MEP‑related queries.
• Support value engineering initiatives to optimise performance and cost.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and help develop best practices.

Required profile

• Degree holder in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience in MEP design across various projects and sectors.
• Familiarity with design stage guides such as RIBA Plan of Work and BSRIA Guide BG6.
• Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and related guidance.
• Solid understanding of construction methods.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
