Design Engineer – Rolling Stock Engineering

About the role

The Design Engineer will be responsible for creating and improving mechanical and electrical systems for a range of engineering vehicles, including locomotives, wagons, auxiliary vehicles and passenger buses. This position supports asset replacement, refurbishment and modification projects, ensuring technical solutions are effective and sustainable.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical and electrical systems for locomotives, wagons, auxiliary vehicles and passenger buses.
• Lead asset replacement, refurbishment, and modification projects related to engineering vehicles.
• Develop in‑house technical solutions to implement improvement works efficiently.
• Identify technical problems in existing designs and propose long‑term solutions.
• Compile technical specifications, review design submissions, and participate in site inspections, testing and commissioning activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in rolling‑stock design and engineering.
• Strong proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for business purposes.
