Director, Global Markets Operations

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is recruiting a Director of Global Markets Operations in Hong Kong. The role plays a central part in guiding the Treasury and Securities functions, directing operational activities with a focus on compliance, risk management and process improvement, and leading complex transformation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance across Global Markets Treasury and Securities operations and foster a cooperative culture supporting business goals and employee development.
• Direct the daily activities of the Treasury and Securities teams, ensuring operational efficiency through communal practices and interpersonal communication.
• Lead complex projects such as GMO Transformation, Outsourcing, New Product/System enablement and regulatory-related initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Business Continuity Planning (BCP), internal controls and regulatory requirements.
• Use external market knowledge and benchmarks to identify performance improvements and share best practices across teams.
• Develop, motivate and support teams, including succession planning, and promote cooperation between distributed teams.
• Facilitate incident management, problem management, operational risk mitigation and service management.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and champion training opportunities.

Required profile

• Tertiary education or above.
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in banking treasury and securities.
• At least 5 years of managerial experience.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a global structure and build interdependent relationships among diverse teams.
• Excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills in both Cantonese and English.
