Financial Controller / Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller / Assistant Financial Controller will safeguard the financial integrity of the Kowloon Shangri‑La hotel, ensuring compliance, accurate reporting, and strategic financial guidance to support growth objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present financial statements, balance sheets, tax returns and regulatory reports for the owning and management companies.
• Maintain compliance with government reporting requirements and internal policies.
• Develop, update and enforce financial policies and procedures for the hotel.
• Oversee cash management, accounts payable/receivable, credit control, payroll and petty‑cash processes in partnership with the Finance Shared Services Centre.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, working closely with department heads.
• Implement internal controls to protect assets and liaise with external auditors for annual reviews.
• Provide strategic financial analysis on cash flow, cost control, and expense management to guide senior leadership.
• Handle ad‑hoc financial projects as assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, etc.).
• Minimum 5 years of senior financial management experience, preferably in hospitality.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation abilities.
• Solid grasp of financial statistics, accounting principles and regulatory standards.

Required skills

• Financial accounting systems (cash management, AP/AR, payroll).
• Budgeting and forecasting tools.
• Internal control implementation.
