Head of Financial Lines – Commercial Insurance

About the role

This senior underwriting leadership position is responsible for driving profitable growth of Zurich's Financial Lines portfolio in Hong Kong. The role leads the Financial Lines underwriting team, shapes customer engagement, and defines go‑to‑market strategies for the line of business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Financial Lines portfolios covering D&O, PI, FI and Cyber.
• Lead and develop a team of Underwriters and Senior Underwriters, setting performance metrics and providing support.
• Make selection/denial decisions on new and renewal business within delegated authority.
• Develop and maintain relationships with agents and brokers to retain and acquire business.
• Promote Zurich’s Financial Lines leadership in the external market and leverage global capabilities.
• Set financial targets and budgets for the underwriting unit and monitor portfolio performance.
• Review complex analyses to provide authoritative underwriting recommendations.
• Ensure underwriting policies and processes align with strategic objectives.
• Oversee data quality and facultative reinsurance purchases and strategy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification.
• Over 10 years of underwriting experience in Financial Lines with proven team leadership.
• Demonstrated expertise in D&O, PI, FI and Cyber products.
• Track record of driving business growth and change management in a complex environment.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of general insurance markets.
