Principal Architect – Front‑Office Trading Technology

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned technologist with over 15 years of experience in front‑office and trading technology to provide architectural leadership across our trading platform landscape. The Principal Architect will ensure solutions meet business goals, engineering standards, operational resilience, and regulatory obligations while acting as a trusted technical authority throughout the trading lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain architecture standards, roadmaps, and governance artefacts for front‑office trading platforms.
• Lead Architecture Review Board (ARB) processes, reviewing and approving technology solutions.
• Evaluate designs for performance, scalability, resiliency, security, compliance, and latency.
• Guide capacity planning, performance optimisation, and observability initiatives to support peak market events.
• Drive modernization efforts, including cloud, hybrid, and AI adoption, ensuring alignment with long‑term technology strategy.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, risk, and business stakeholders to deliver pragmatic, cost‑effective solutions.

Required profile

• 15+ years of hands‑on experience in large‑scale trading environments.
• Proven architectural judgement combined with deep engineering credibility.
• Strong understanding of regulatory, resilience, and security requirements in financial services.
• Ability to influence and challenge solutions across performance, scalability, and operational risk dimensions.
• Excellent communication skills to engage both technical teams and business leaders.
