Project Manager / Construction Manager - Data Center

About the role

Turner & Townsend is hiring a Data Center Construction Manager in Hong Kong. The role covers construction project management and oversight of construction activities for new data halls, system enhancements and general capital projects, with ownership of scope, quality, schedule and budget.

Key responsibilities

• Lead construction, working with design and project teams to identify risks, optimise buildability and support cost-effective delivery.
• Identify construction, commercial, procurement and contractual risks and implement mitigation measures.
• Interface directly with general contractors and vendors during bidding, award, execution and closeout, and coordinate internal teams on scope and requests for proposals.
• Negotiate with contractors and vendors, and evaluate bids and proposals accurately.
• Perform cost control and financial analysis, carry out regular site inspections, and manage construction documents including submittals, RFIs, change orders and invoicing.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with statutory regulations, SLAs and in-house guidelines, and report key construction metrics.
• Manage projects that increase data center resiliency, run constructability reviews of MEP designs, and lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of equipment failures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in building services, mechanical or electrical engineering, construction management or an equivalent engineering science, or 10+ years of relevant experience instead.
• 5+ years constructing and managing complex MEP systems in mission-critical environments.
• 5+ years of general contractor and vendor management (RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control).
• Experience in project or construction management in live data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of local building codes and data center construction sequence and critical equipment.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings.
• Pre-construction procurement, contract administration and post-construction closure.
• Level 4 and 5 testing and commissioning.
• Project management and scheduling tools such as MS Project and Primavera P6.
• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and leadership skills.
