Regulatory Compliance and AML & Sanctions Manager

About the role

ANZ is seeking a Regulatory Compliance and AML & Sanctions Manager to strengthen its Financial Crime Compliance framework in Hong Kong. The role will ensure robust systems, controls and governance to mitigate risks related to money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, bribery and corruption. You will work closely with business units and regulators to deliver effective compliance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide customer due‑diligence (CDD) advisory and approval for new client onboarding, Enhanced Due Diligence Review (EDR) and Ongoing Customer Due Diligence (OCDD).
• Review and resolve quality‑control clarifications raised by the Global Compliance Centre and address data‑quality issues.
• Conduct quality‑control reviews on complex customer structures and negative‑news assessments.
• Manage and review AML, transaction‑monitoring and sanctions alerts, including WLM, TMS and country‑related sanctions reviews and approvals.
• Review and approve ECDD and SEDD cases through the OCR portal and respond to related queries.
• Handle requests from local enforcement agencies, coordinate stakeholder engagement and prepare formal responses.
• Perform AML/CTF country‑risk assessments and provide recommendations.
• Support ABAC risk assessments and deliver training activities across the organization.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in AML, counter‑terrorist financing, sanctions and broader financial‑crime compliance.
• Strong knowledge of customer due‑diligence processes and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Ability to analyse complex customer structures and assess negative‑news information.
• Experience managing alerts from transaction‑monitoring systems and interacting with enforcement agencies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
