Resident Engineer (MEP) - Data Centre

About the role

Turner & Townsend is hiring a Resident Engineer for electrical, building services and mechanical works on data centre construction projects in Hong Kong. The role supervises and coordinates all MEP works on site, ensuring systems are installed, tested and commissioned in line with approved drawings, technical specifications, safety standards and operational requirements. It acts as the technical representative on site, coordinating consultants, contractors and stakeholders to deliver high-availability, mission-critical infrastructure. The position is full-time and based at the site office.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day MEP installations and construction activities, ensuring compliance with approved designs, specifications and data centre standards.
• Handle day-to-day site administration, preparing and maintaining technical documents, inspection records and project reports.
• Review and coordinate shop drawings, method statements and technical submittals with consultants and contractors.
• Ensure MEP works meet contractual specifications, approved drawings, method statements, statutory regulations and SLA requirements.
• Report progress, technical issues and risks to the Project Manager and support site inspections, testing and handover.
• Supervise contractors and coordinate with them and the Clerk of Works on installation, performance, defect rectification and quality control.
• Provide accurate information and documentation to support valuation of works, progress claims, variations and cost assessments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Building Services, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 8 years of relevant construction or site experience, including at least 1 year in data centre or other mission-critical facilities.
• Experience managing contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary site teams.
• Proven ability to identify site issues, ensure installation quality and supervise contractors.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently on site in a fast-paced environment.
