Senior Actuarial Director, Head of IFRS Reporting

About the role

The Hong Kong Corporate Actuarial unit acts as a financial management hub, advising senior management on IFRS17 valuation reporting, Hong Kong RBC capital valuation, business planning, participating business and reinsurance management, and statutory reporting. Reporting to the Hong Kong Chief Actuary, this role heads the IFRS reporting team of around 15 junior to middle-level actuaries, delivering high-quality financial reporting on insurance liabilities of approximately US$50 billion, and sits on the senior actuaries leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead IFRS 17 quarterly financial reporting in line with internal and accounting standards, including management reporting such as Drivers of Earnings, expense gap analysis, basis changes management and valuation controls and audits.
• Lead HK FRS and Macau FRS reporting and actuarial-related development and auditor interactions.
• Support monthly financial forecasting and planning on earnings-related metrics.
• Lead earnings assessments supporting business initiatives such as ALM projects and advise management.
• Coach and lead junior actuaries, and champion improvements to valuation and reporting processes.

Required profile

• University degree and professional actuarial qualifications.
• At least 12 years of experience in the insurance industry.
• Solid actuarial knowledge and experience in valuation and financial reporting.
• Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills, and ability to coach and inspire others.
• Able to work flexibly in a dynamic environment; effective command of spoken and written English.
• Experience in Hong Kong statutory reporting and AXIS actuarial modelling are assets but not required.
