Senior Tax Advisor – Transaction & PRC Tax – Hong Kong

About the role

EY’s International Tax and Transaction Services team is looking for a Senior Accountant to support transaction tax and PRC tax advisory work in Hong Kong. You will work on mergers and acquisitions, cross‑border investments and corporate restructuring, helping clients align tax strategies with commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in transaction tax advisory and PRC tax engagements, including tax due diligence, acquisition/disposal structuring and group restructuring.
• Address complex Hong Kong, PRC and international tax issues and provide strategic tax alignment for client transactions.
• Prepare tax advice, technical research, memoranda, client presentations and other deliverables.
• Develop and mentor junior tax professionals, providing performance feedback and ensuring appropriate workload distribution.
• Maintain strong internal relationships across ITTS, broader tax teams and other service lines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree; professional accountancy qualification (e.g., CPA, CTA) is preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of tax advisory experience in a professional services firm or in‑house tax function.
• Experience in transaction tax, M&A tax, corporate restructuring, PRC tax or cross‑border structuring.
• Strong analytical, research and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Fluent English; Mandarin or Cantonese proficiency is an advantage.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of Hong Kong and/or PRC corporate tax matters.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex tax concepts to commercial transactions.
