Software Engineer / Application Developer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Software Engineer / Application Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions that meet client requirements. You will work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical implementations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain web‑based software systems.
• Build and manage system infrastructure, including data pipelines, storage, and computational environments.
• Conduct functional, performance, and security testing to ensure reliability.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot deployed solutions.
• Document processes, workflows, and system architecture for knowledge sharing.
• Stay current with advances in programming, system development, and AI technologies.
• Propose and implement improvements for efficiency and performance.
• Ensure compliance with security standards, data‑privacy laws, and industry regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Technology or a related field (professional qualifications a plus).
• Minimum 3 years of relevant IT experience (e.g., analyst programmer, web developer, system support).
• Native fluency in spoken Cantonese and proficient written Chinese; strong written and spoken English.
• Proven ability to lead technology‑driven change and collaborate within cross‑functional teams.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• JavaScript development.
• SQL databases; familiarity with NoSQL databases.
• Web‑based solution development and database implementation.
• AI tool deployment.
• GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) – a plus.
• BIM knowledge – a plus.
• DevOps practices and automated testing/deployment.
