Technical Director (E&M)

About the role

Egis, a global organisation in architecture, consulting, construction engineering, operations and mobility services, is hiring a Technical Director (E&M) in Hong Kong. The role covers project delivery, technical review, cost and budget management, tendering and commercial negotiation, and business development within the MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) field.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure project delivery, quality of work and technical review
• Attend design meetings, site meetings and other project-related meetings
• Build and develop a strong group of professionals
• Manage internal costs and budgets
• Handle business tendering and commercial negotiations
• Liaise with the client team on project progress, decisions and changes, and address client issues proactively
• Pursue business opportunities and risk reduction, and maintain a high-level network with private, public and institutional stakeholders
• Embed sustainability, environment and quality across the team, lead innovation and people management, and drive recruitment and retention of key personnel

Required profile

• Degree and postgraduate degree in mechanical, electrical and/or building services engineering
• Professional membership in one or more of MHKIE, MIMechE, MIET or MCIBSE
• Post-chartered experience including team management
• Infrastructure and building project experience
• Proven technical design capabilities in the MEP division
• Track record delivering large-scale Hong Kong/China assignments
• Excellent understanding of Hong Kong construction regulations and legislation
• Experience in design, construction supervision and project management, including government and quasi-government submissions (MTRC, Airport Authority)
• Fluent Cantonese and English; Mandarin is an advantage

• Communicating with government officials and clients at all levels
• Delivering interactive client presentations, commercial roadshows and speaking at conferences
