AI Data Scientist – Build AI‑Powered Data Products

About the role

We are looking for an AI Data Scientist to join Cubist’s Data Services (CDS) and help build AI‑powered data products that support systematic portfolio managers. The role combines research, model development and production engineering in a fast‑moving finance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, train, fine‑tune, evaluate and deploy AI/ML models using proprietary and external datasets.
• Develop end‑to‑end model pipelines covering data preparation, feature engineering, training, validation, deployment and monitoring.
• Apply generative AI and large language model techniques for summarisation, classification, knowledge extraction, semantic search and workflow automation.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and business teams to translate business problems into scalable AI solutions.
• Evaluate and integrate third‑party AI tools, APIs, open‑source and internal models where appropriate.
• Build data pipelines and model workflows for both structured and unstructured data.
• Define model performance metrics, run experiments, conduct error analysis and continuously improve model quality.
• Support production deployment ensuring reliability, scalability, governance and responsible AI usage.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science with a focus on AI or machine learning.
• 3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar role.
• Strong publication record in top‑tier machine learning conferences.
• Experience working with large datasets and predictive modelling.
• Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to high ethical standards and responsible AI practices.
