Category Manager – Building Products & Equipment

About the role

The Category Manager for Building Products, Generic Parts and Branded Equipment will develop and execute category strategies, work closely with business units, and manage supplier relationships to improve procurement effectiveness across engineering and construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for materials such as cable, pipe & fittings, valves, electrical, fire service, access control, water/fuel tanks, BMU, air compressors, etc.
• Analyse spend data, supplier base and market benchmarks to identify cost‑optimisation and consolidation opportunities.
• Lead end‑to‑end strategic sourcing, including RFx execution, tender evaluation, commercial negotiation and benefits tracking.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to embed early procurement involvement in project planning and budgeting.
• Manage supplier performance, conduct business reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Own contract management, ensuring commercial terms, service levels and compliance are maintained.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field; CIPS or CPSM qualification is a plus.
• 8–10 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing or category management within engineering, construction or facilities management.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Experience using ERP and procurement systems
• Knowledge of Power BI for data analysis
• Familiarity with RFx/tendering processes and contract management
